FAIR SQUARED Hairband

 
It tames any mane and adds a pop of colour to your hair. Vintage saris are used in their production, giving them a lovely second life as colourful hair accessories. How lovely – this way they spread joy, even though they haven’t been able to fulfil their original purpose for a long time!

Care instructions: Wash at 20°C on a gentle cycle without fabric softener. Do not tumble dry.

As the hair bands are upcycled products, each one is unique. Due to the wide variety of different saris, we offer the hair bands as a surprise product, which means it is not possible to select a specific one in advance. This hair band features many different shades and cannot be clearly categorised within a single colour spectrum. A real surprise package.  

They are produced in the sewing workshop of our partner, Rice & Carry, in Sri Lanka. Rice & Carry trains women from rural areas of Sri Lanka to enable them to earn their own income. The company’s environmental focus is on the sustainable use of resources, with a particular emphasis on upcycling existing materials.

When our production partner, Rice & Carry, came up with the idea of making something out of old saris, they went door to door to promote their project to the women. Now, the women bring their old saris to the factory themselves, and Rice & Carry turns them into scrunchies, hair bands or furoshikis (a fabric alternative to wrapping paper).
