It tames any mane and adds a pop of colour to your hair. Vintage saris are used to make these, giving them a lovely second life as colourful hair accessories. How wonderful - they continue to spread joy, even though they can no longer serve their original purpose! Since the hairbands are an upcycled product, each one is a one-of-a-kind piece. Because of the huge variety of different saris, we offer the hairbands as a surprise product, meaning there is no option to pre-select a specific design. However, you can choose between different colour clusters.
They are produced in the sewing workshop of our partner Rice & Carry in Sri Lanka. Rice & Carry trains women from rural areas of Sri Lanka to enable them to earn their own income. The company's focus is on the use of resources, with particular emphasis on upcycling existing materials.
When our production partner Rice & Carry had the idea to make something out of old saris, they went door to door promoting the project to local women. Nowadays, the women bring their own old saris to the factory themselves, and Rice & Carry processes them into scrunchies, hairbands or furoshiki (a textile alternative to gift wrap).

Directions

Place the hairband around your head and knot or tie the tapered ends according to your preferred style. Thanks to its length, it can be worn flexibly as a hair accessory.
Care instructions: Wash at 20 °C on a gentle cycle without fabric softener. Do not tumble dry.
