Bunting made from upcycled rice sacks in bright colours. The chain consists of 10 triangles and is weatherproof, making it the right decorative element for the next garden party. The chain is fastened by knots at the side. The ends are long enough to tie the pennants securely or connect them to each other. Each garland is a handmade one-off because the rice sacks are printed differently. The garland is handmade by Rice & Carry in Sri Lanka. Discarded rice sacks are collected, cleaned and then processed for this purpose. Each garland is unique. Thanks to Rice & Carry, the rice sacks are used again and processed into new products: upcycling – old becomes new! Material: The rice sacks are made from 100% polypropylene. (Hand wash). Possible colours of the rice sacks: Orange Yellow Lime Green White Blue.

The story behind it: Rice & Carry is a Fair Trade project supporting women on the east coast of Sri Lanka and is a member of the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO).
Discarded rice and jute sacks are processed into various upcycled products. The rice and spice sacks usually come from markets or restaurants and are collected for a second purpose. In the workshop, they are then washed, dried and subsequently sewn into a wide variety of products by the employees. More information about WFTO at www.wfto.com
