RICE & CARRY Jute Cushion Cover

Rice & Carry is a fair trade project to support women on the east coast of Sri Lanka and belongs to the World Fair Trade Organisation (WTFO).

Discarded rice and jute bags are processed into various upcycling products. The assortment is diverse and ranges from bags to cushion covers. By reprocessing supposed 'waste', Rice & Carry is working to combat local pollution.

The rice and spice bags usually come from markets or restaurants and are collected by a driver. In the factory, they are washed and dried by the employees and then sewn into a variety of products.

Each cover is unique because the spice bags are printed differently, so there is no possibility to choose colours or motifs.
