Robust keyring made from recycled materials: the Rice & Carry Key Ring. The buckle is made from collected PP bottle caps, and the strap is crafted from rice sack fabric. The keyring is available in various colours and is a one-of-a-kind piece, as each keyring is handmade. Properties: made from rice sacks, tear-resistant, moisture-repellent, produced in a Fair Trade project by women in Sri Lanka (WFTO certified) Dimensions: width 3 cm, length 18 cm. Weight: 20 g. The rice sacks are made of 100% polypropylene. (Hand wash)
The story behind it: Rice & Carry is a Fair Trade project supporting women on the east coast of Sri Lanka and is a member of the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO). Discarded rice and jute sacks are processed into a variety of upcycled products. The rice and spice sacks mostly come from markets or restaurants and are collected to be given a second purpose. At the manufactory, staff then wash and dry them before sewing them into a wide range of products. More information on WFTO at www.wfto.com
