The environmentally friendly alternative to conventional, peat-based potting soil is the coco block. This block is compact, light and easy to transport. By adding water, it increases its volume by seven to eight times and thus produces about 9 litres of ready-to-use plant substrate. The coco block consists exclusively of pure coconut fibres.
Important to note: The coco block does not contain any fertiliser. It is therefore necessary to add additional plant fertiliser, such as horn shavings. As a rule, two handfuls of horn shavings per coco block are sufficient.
Details at a glance:
- Made from pure coconut fibres
- Low weight
- Extremely productive
- 750g yields about 9 litres of potting soil
Directions for use:
Place one or more coco blocks in a large enough container and add about 6 litres of water per coco block. Allow the coco block to swell for about 20-30 minutes - it will expand to 7-8 times its original volume and take on a peat-like consistency. Then crumble the cocoblock into a loose substrate and add more water if needed.
